Introduction

Camclox is a combination of ampicillin and cloxacillin. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic. It exhibits bactericidal action against susceptible organisms during the stage of their active multiplication. It acts through the inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall of a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.

Streptococci, Staphylococci (including penicillinase producing strains), Neisseria spp. H. Influenzae, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis and salmonella spp.

 
Composition
Each Capsule of Camclox 250mg contains
Ampicillin 125mg and Cloxacillin 125mg
Each Capsule of Camclox 500mg contains
Ampicillin 250mg and Cloxacillin 250mg

Respiratory tract infections
Ear, Nose and Throat infections
Urinary tract infections
Gastro-intestinal infections
Skin and Soft tissue infections
Pelvic infections
Septicaemia
Endocarditis
Orthopaedic infections

Dosage
ADULTS

500mg-1gm every 6 hours or more frequetly according to the severity of infection.


Contra Indications
Penicillin hypersensitivity. Ocular administration.

Side Effects

As with other penicillins, side effects are usually of a mild and transitory nature. They may include diarrhoea, indigestion or occasionally rash - either urticarial, which suggests penicillin hypersensitivity or erythematous. An erythematous rash may be caused in patients with glandular fever. In either case it is advisable to discontinue therapy.
